The College for a Day Institute will give multicultural youth a college immersion experience.  The majority of the state’s young people would be first-generation college students and as a result, they may have had very little exposure to the college environment.  The College for a Day Institute is designed to provide multicultural youth a good understanding of this environment and of the disciplines of agriculture, business, and engineering.  These areas of study should be of tremendous interest to native people as they strive to increase their agricultural industries, diversify their entrepreneurial initiatives, and develop the Nation’s infrastructure.  The College for a Day Institute will motivate multicultural students to seriously consider college and help the students understand how the college disciplines in which they might major will help to advance them and their communities.
